Meet with Dr Little Mahendra – The Excellence Icon in Healthcare

About Dr. Little Mahendra:

WDr. Little Mahendra is the former Dean and Head of Research at Maktoum Bin Hamdan Dental University College, Dubai. Presently, she is affiliated to many universities guiding PhD students. She has 26 ongoing research projects. She graduated as a dental surgeon from Rajiv Gandhi University and proceeded to do her post-graduation and PhD in Dentistry (Periodontology) from prestigious Annamalai University in India.

She extended her post-doctoral research in Stem cells in the US from Michigan State University. Dr Little has also received degree in hospital management and is a member of faculty of Dentistry at the prestigious Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, UK.

Dr. Little Mahendra is an adept researcher, and have published many research articles in national and international journals. She is the recipient of many awards and accolades at national and international levels for her contribution to the field of research in dentistry including recent “Young Researcher Award 2022” by UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition, AEEDC, Dubai.

Dr. Little believes that research is extremely necessary for the development, trials, and testing of new drugs and techniques which is vital to change future dental working practices to deliver better results and patient satisfaction. She has “Patented & Registered” an Orthopedic appliance design “Little’s class II corrector” to treat skeletal defect of the mandible, 2021, Germany.

Dr. Mahendra is also a graceful Kathak dancer and she won the best dancer award during her school and college days. She loves cooking too. Talking about her daughter Kiara, she says that, “not only children learn from parents but, parents can learn from children too”.

Kiara taught her to be inquisitive, living in the moment and to laugh more.

Dr. Little Mahendra is the youngest in the family among 3 sisters. Her eldest sister is the Head of the Dental Research at a prestigious University in south India, and another sister is placed as senior program manager at Google, California, USA. Her parents served Indian defence forces for more than 30 years. Mother Dr. Rita Batra, a gynaecologist and dad, Lt.Col. MP Singh as an engineer. Dr. Mahendra says that her family and friends are her biggest strength to keep her going.
