Lisa Hugo is a renowned Voice Coach and digital marketing expert. She is founder of Audacia Marketing Management, marketing company that enables business growth and visibility across a variety of digital platforms. She hosts Impact Through Voice Podcast where she shares value with her audience regularly and invites inspiring guests who share engaging stories. In this feature, Lisa Hugo shares more about her work. Its her story in her words.
I began my career as a singer/songwriter performing in 5-star resorts around the world and on cruise ships. Having studied performing arts, including acting, voice, and dance, being in front of an audience has always felt natural to me.
But I also know what it’s like to get nervous.
Throughout my singing career, I always coached voice on the side. Working with other singers allowed me to give back, support other talented artists, and reinforce my own technique to keep my voice in top form.
After moving to Dubai, I had the incredible opportunity to perform at the Dubai International Jazz Festival. My band was flown in from Europe, making it a memorable experience.
However, as a mum with a 2-year-old and a newborn, I decided to pivot into coaching full-time to be more present for my children. I established my business in Dubai and initially worked only with singers of all ages. Coaching young star Emanne Beasha to the finals of America’s Got Talent was an especially emotional and rewarding journey.
Gradually, I began receiving more inquiries from executives and leaders who wanted to learn how to use their voice to make a greater impact. I became the go-to person in the region for all things voice.
When Covid hit, my in-person coaching business came to a sudden halt. I seized the opportunity to pivot online, focusing solely on executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs. I created several digital courses: Voice of Success, Speak With No Fear, and Virtual Mastery, and studied digital marketing to reach a global audience.
This shift allowed me to work with clients from around the world, no longer limited by geography and grow my personal brand internationally.
Public speaking is the world’s number one fear. Our voice is our greatest asset and has the power to change the world for good or bad. Effective communication is crucial in any career, and if you’re invisible, you miss out on opportunities.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping people find their voice, speak up, and be heard. When people find their voice, they gain confidence. I’ve watched clients transition from hiding in corners to following their passions and building their own businesses.
I’ve now pivoted to help other coaches, consultants, and experts take the same journey. I teach them how to package their knowledge into online coaching programs and share their expertise globally. They learn how to reach the exact people who need their help in the moment they are searching for this help.
It’s incredibly powerful. Fez transitioned from a 1-1 fitness coach to growing an online business helping women in their menopausal years stay fit and healthy, scaling his business to $1 million in just three years. Likewise, Phil, a DJ who teaches music creation, scaled his business to over $1 million in two years using my techniques.
Shifting directions during Covid was one of the most valuable and exciting experiences outside of performing on big stages. It enabled me to scale my business to seven figures, reclaim my time, launch my podcast “Impact Through Voice,” and share my knowledge as a speaker on stages around the world.
I encourage everyone to follow their dreams. Life is too short to spend doing something you don’t enjoy or working for someone else if it doesn’t fulfill you.
